Jefferson County Courthouse
In progress
Jefferson County´s 14-story, 225-foot-tall, 138,263 square-foot building in Beaumont is one of the state´s largest historic courthouses and largest and finest works of Art Deco architecture. The interior finishes feature starburst patterns of colored terrazzo, marbles from Belgium and Italy, and American walnut woodwork and furniture.
Bailey Architects prepared, in accordance with the Texas Historical Commission´s Historic Courthouse Preservation Program, the preservation master plan for the 1932 courthouse, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Phase One of this $20 million restoration has begun with new roofing on the tower, window replacement, and masonry restoration.
